Privacy Policy

FinNinja ("we", "our", or "us") is operated by EvolveTech LLC and is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Guest Mode

FinNinja can be used without creating an account. In guest mode, study progress and flashcard stats are stored locally on your device only and are never synced to our servers. No email address or personal identifier is collected from guest users. Creating an account is only required to sync progress across devices, save bookmarks to the cloud, or use AI Tutor features tied to an account.

What We Collect

Account data (accounts only): Your email address and display name, collected when you create an account or sign in with Apple or Google.

Study data: Your selected certification, flashcard answers, accuracy statistics, current streak, domain progress, and bookmarked cards. Stored locally on your device and, for account holders, synced to our secure database so your progress is never lost if you reinstall or switch devices.

Profile photo (optional): If you choose to set a profile picture, your selected photo or camera image is compressed and uploaded to Supabase Storage as your avatar. Photo library and camera access are requested only when you initiate this action. FinNinja does not access your photo library or camera at any other time.

AI Tutor messages: Questions you send to the AI Tutor are processed in real time to generate explanations. See the AI & Third Parties section below for exactly what is sent. AI Tutor conversations are not stored permanently.

Subscription status: Whether you are on the free or Pro plan, managed through Apple's in-app purchase system via RevenueCat. We never receive your payment card details.

Notification preferences: Whether you have enabled study reminders. No notification content is collected or stored on our servers.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the FinNinja service
• To sync your study progress and bookmarks across devices (account holders only)
• To power AI Tutor explanations tailored to your selected finance certification
• To process subscription payments through Apple
• To send study reminders if you enable notifications
• To respond to support requests

AI & Third Parties

What is sent to the AI provider: When you use the AI Tutor, the following is transmitted to our backend and then to the AI provider to generate an explanation:

• Your typed question
• The relevant flashcard or topic context (certification name, domain, card question and answer)
• A pseudonymous app user ID used only for usage rate-limiting

What is NOT sent to the AI provider: Your Apple ID password, payment card details, contacts, photo library, precise location, or any data unrelated to your study session.

Groq Inc.: Primary AI provider. Processes AI Tutor requests in real time via our Supabase backend. Messages are not stored or used for model training. See groq.com/privacy.

Anthropic PBC: Fallback AI provider used only if Groq is unavailable. Same data-handling guarantees apply. See anthropic.com/privacy.

Supabase: Provides authentication and database storage for account holders. See supabase.com/privacy.

RevenueCat: Manages in-app purchase entitlements. Receives a pseudonymous app user ID to track subscription status. See revenuecat.com/privacy.

Apple: Handles in-app purchase and subscription transactions. See apple.com/privacy.

No other third parties receive your personal data.

Photo Library & Camera Access

FinNinja requests access to your photo library or camera only when you choose to set or update your profile picture — for example, when you tap the avatar picker in the Profile screen. The selected photo or camera image is compressed and uploaded to Supabase Storage as your profile avatar. FinNinja does not scan, read, or access any other photos or camera feed.

Data Storage & Retention

Study progress and flashcard stats are stored locally on your device. For account holders, this data is also synced to Supabase and retained until you delete your account. Profile photos are stored in Supabase Storage. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile screen in the app.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict processing of, and port your data. Email evolvetech86@gmail.com to exercise any right. We respond within 30 days. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children's Privacy

FinNinja is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Contact us immediately at evolvetech86@gmail.com if you believe a child has created an account and we will delete it promptly.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email.
